SERVING THE CORNISH, MAINE AND SURROUNDING AREA FOR OVER 50 YEARS.

William L. Sturgeon, pictured on left with his son Robert, began the company now bearing his name with a small fleet of trucks and a contract with the Town of Standish, Maine to plow snow. The year was 1952 and he was home from military duty overseas and about to be married. The winter work evolved into trucking on various Maine State Aid and Town Road Improvement projects and soon he owned a swing shovel, backhoe, and bulldozer and was fully committed to earthwork.

W.L. Sturgeon, Inc. became incorporated in 1969 and continued to grow and expand its services. William’s widow, Theresa, managed the company for the next decade operating under the WBE classification on DOT projects for the State of Maine for a number of years.

Robert Sturgeon took over management in 1986 and has continued in that role to the present day. He is well known in the Sacopee Valley area as a resource of knowledge for all things related to dirt work. Michael Sturgeon is the third generation to take up the earthmoving trade and will be the catalyst for taking W.L. Sturgeon, Inc. into the future.
